Item Description

Matrix Topaz specimens from the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho are quite rare, and sought after by collectors. This piece features a sharp, translucent, silvery colored partial crystal of Topaz measuring 2.3 cm sitting on the termination of a richly colored prismatic Smoky Quartz crystal. Associated soft tan colored Albite can be seen on the base of the piece. The Topaz crystal is not 100% complete, but it does look like it's crudely recrystallized on the back after it separated from the pocket wall. If you collect gem crystals, minerals of the United States or minerals from pegmatites, don't miss out on this aesthetic and rare example from this remote locality in central Idaho. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12516). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
