Item Description

A wonderful and hard to find specimen of the classic Crocoite from the TYPE LOCALITY in Russia! This specimen hosts rich orange-red color, sharp crystals of Crocoite measuring up to 3 mm associated with green Vauquelinite on host rock matrix. This piece more dates back over 100 years, and to have a piece from the type locality for the species is noteworthy. The crystals look beautiful under magnification. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7310). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
