Item Description

Please note: This specimen was erroneousl labeled as coming from a locality called "Manangi in Afghanistan", but I'm certain it's from the Astor Valley in Pakistan. This is about as red as Zircon gets from most localities. This piece features a sharp, lustrous, red crystal of Zircon measuring 1.1 cm Mica/Quartz schist matrix. A good quality Zircon, and a bit gemmy when backlit. One does not see many of these specimens on the market anymore these days. If you're a collector of minerals from Pakistan, this is a nice red Zircon to add to your collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12594). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
