Item Description

Euxenite-(Y) is an uncommon rare earth oxide is found in granitic pegmatites. This piece consists of sharp, well-formed, tan (an alteration rind over ordinarily black crystal), parallel-growth crystals chisel-shpaed terminations. This is a fine old-time piece that comes with a beautiful hand-written label from an unknown collection. A few nicks keep the piece from being 100% pristine, but it's really in great shape overall. Superb and rare, well-terminated specimens of this quality date back over 75 years ago. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1227). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
