Item Description

A wonderful specimen consisting of bladed, translucent, soft golden colored Barite crystals measuring up to 4.7 cm on very minor matrix. The piece is in good shape overall, with only a few blemishes. A worthwhile and attractive Barite specimen that came labeled as coming from "Carthagene" (Cartagena), Spain, but no specific locality given. It's showy, three-dimensional, and has larger crystals than the majority of Barites from this area. For the size, amount of crystals and unique overall appearance of the piece, it's worth picking up for any collector. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #1774). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
