Item Description

Mount Saint-Hilaire is one of the world's most significant localities, and produces many "best in the world" specimens of a lot of minerals. This piece features very gemmy, sharp, well-formed, pseudohexagonal crystals of Catapleiite free of matrix. A classic from this historic locality. The specimen is not undamaged, as it's contacted in a couple spots, but the crystals are still very good quality for the species. It is now difficult to obtain specimens from this locality as collecting has been limited / reduced in recent years, so if you collect minerals from this world famous prolific locality, don't miss out on this attractive thumbnail. From the collection of renowned mineral dealer, Charlie Key, the namesake for Keyite and Ludlockite.
