Item Description

This one is a bit of a mystery as Kay's label states that it is a Tremolite specimen, but "probably a new find (1969) - then labeled 'Pyrophyllite'". I honestly don't know which species this could be based upon visual inspection, and the locality may not be 100% accurate as she has it coming from Salida, which is not really a locality, but rather a town in Chaffee County, Colorado. Now there is locality in the SEDALIA District of Colorado where both Tremolite and Pyrophyllite have been reported, so this is most likely where this piece is from. An oddball piece to be sure, but an interesting specimen to add to any Coloraod suite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5619). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
