Item Description

Mineral specimens are uncommon from this less well-known Riverside County pegmatite located in the late 1960s. It is known mostly for topaz, hydroxylherderite and schorl specimens. This is a cute thumbnail of a highly lustrous, striated, trigonal schorl crystal nicely accented with a corsage of bladed cleavelandite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5285 and acquired from the Hamel's during early mining in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Excellent, highly representative and very uncommon combination material from this locale. A MUST for the California pegmatite collector.
