Item Description

RARE and seldom available bi-colored tourmaline from this obscure Tajikistan pegmatite in the Pamir Mountains. The stout trigonal crystal is lustrous, glassy, partially gemmy to translucent to opaque and is well-striated. The silky luster pyramidal termination is undelain by a striking and beautiful, gemmy/translucent orchid-purple layer. The sharp delineation follows with a gemmy golden-yellow rind encasing a schorl core on this outstanding pristine 360-degree tourmaline. Mika pegmatite tourmalines have distinctive color zoning and this is a very fine example. Portions of the crystal GLOW under bright light! 151 grams mass. Valued at $2000 for sharpness, rarity and quality.
