Item Description

Intensely sparkly emerald-green malachite microcrystals cover the sculptural cluster of bubbly banded malachite botryoids on this showy and excellent small cabinet from this famous, extinct copper mine. Local artisanal miners intermittently work the pit for specimens. The periphery wear adds character, as it reveals the striking banding of the malachite. The piece probably dates to the 1970s or 80s.
