Item Description

A bizarre and dramatically sculptural matrix calcite specimen from Tsumeb. An impressive ribbon of glassy, translucent, colorless complex calcite rhombs with satin lustre faces, to 1.8 cm, is artistically perched atop a gangue matrix plate covered with surreal multi-hued tubules. It resembles a colonial corral in architecture. Tsumeb, like Dalnegorsk, is renowned for calcite diversity and quality and this is an otherworldly matrix example from the Shields Flynn Collection.
