Rhodochrosite vugs in large Quartz (classic Colorado)

Wow! An impressive large rhodochrosite and quartz from the famous Sunnyside Mine. Vugs hosting rhodo rhombs and drusy quartz are scattered on all sides of the sculptural triangular specimen. The matrix is mostly quartz, but is richly saturated with pastel- and rose-red rhodochrosite. The striking 3.0 cm frontal vug hosts an about 2.0 cm sharp rhomb. This important large piece shows the crystallization and association of the rhodochrosite and quartz in this famous extinct San Juan Au-Pb-Mn-Ag-Zn-Cu mine. A MUST for the species or Colorado collector.
