Item Description

Colorful, impressive and rich large two-sided rhodochrosite from the ancient Cassandra Mines. The rib plate is essentially solid rhodchrosite. The vivid pastel-pink platy bubbly cryptocrystalline botryoids on one side have this surreal metallic shimmer, that is simply mesmerizing. The rhodo on the other side has similar color, slightly different form and not the metallic shimmer. This side is accented with striking partial casts of rhodochrosite after large crystals (calcite?). Ex Robert Nowakowski Collection # 365 and W.S. Logan Collection # X82-1. Valued at $2200 by the former dealer and worth it for dramatic size, richness and unusual form.
