Item Description

Classic, very rich rhodochrosite from the famous Emma Mine at Butte. Densely intergrown, moderately lustrous, pastel-pink rhombs with stepped-growth faces, to 2.2 cm on the diagonal, complete this sculptural old-time plate. Scattered tiny brassy pryrites are a typical and excellent complement. Nearly pristine. The two noted gently bruised rhombs in the interior are certainly only a modest detraction. Ex W.S. Logan Collection # X 10-7 and illustrated on Page 69 of his 2013 self-published book, Rhodochrosite - Crystals of Drama and Nuance (available by request). The crystal definition is superior on this classic Butte rhodo and the piece displays well from either side. Valued at $1200-1500.
