important , old Franklinite in matrix (Irenee du Pont & Univ. of Delaware)

A remarkable large old-time franklinite specimen from the Irenee du Pont (1876-1963) and the University of Delaware Collection. Numerous franklinite crystals and franklinite crystal sections are embedded on all sides of this very rich large specimen. The impressive isolated large crystal is 3.6 cm. The matrix is blocky pastel-pink marble, not calcite, as the piece has very modest fluorescence. du Pont assembled his outstanding collection in the 1920s and was gifted to the University in 1964. The numbers match and specimens are SELDOM available from the University. A historic Franklin specimen with an exceptional provenance. Valued at $2000+.
