Item Description

Cleiophane, a variety of Sphalerite, is RARE from Franklin. It is the light-coloured (usually yellowish or greenish) up to colourless sphalerite with low contents of Fe" and Mn" (MINDAT). This rare large sculptural combination hosts much reddish-brown willemite (SW green fluorescence), a striking lustrous section of tan to brown cleiophane at the top of the piece (LW orange fluoresence) and scattered black sphalerite sections in the calcite matrix (faint pink fluorescence). Rare and choice large combination material from the Sterling Mine from the David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named. A MUST for the locality or species collector.
