Item Description

A dramatically sculptural, classic large two-sided calcite from the famous Elmwood Mine. A striking, 12.3 cm, doubly terminated and prominently twinned crystal is perched atop and merges with the underlying crystal. The very glassy, highly lustrous, gemmy crystals have the desirable golden-amber color, renowned from Elmwood. The upper crystal is complete all-around and is in great shape, with only gentle bruising to one tip and scattered trivial scuffing. One end of the lower compound crystal is cleaved, but is certainly only a modest detraction to this fine, exotic looking calcite from Elmwood. Ex Kay Robertson Collection with no number. Kay purchased a selection of Elmwood calcites in the 1980s or 90s and this is a very fine example.
