Item Description

A superb, sharp londonite thumbnail crystal of this very rare REE borate from Madagascar. Londonite is the Cesium dominate analogue of Rhodizite, in the Londonite-Rhodizite Series. The translucent yellowish-green crystal has textbook isometric form and satin luster faces. Named in 2001 in honor of David London, Professor of Geology and Geophysics, University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma for his contributions to the understanding of granite pegmatites (MINDAT). The specimen comes from the collection of the well-known Arizona mineral collector and rancher Rukin Jelks (1927-2014). You can read his bio at the following link: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=1767. Single crystals of this quality, color and form are RARE, indeed. Valued at $350 when he bought it in the 1990s! Few more have come out, and the best came out then
