Item Description

Calcite specimens are rare from this well-known extinct (2002) limestone quarry, noted for fine fluorite specimens. Glassy, oxide-tinted nailhead crystals are richly and attractively clustered on the sculptural large limestone matrix. The lustrous crystals have unusual water-clear terminations and frosted densely stepped-growth prism faces, adding allure. Choice, rich and rare large calcite from the Dr. Stephen Moreton Collection and collected in 1998. It is illustrated in the MINDAT locality Photo Gallery with a 2018 photo by Dr. Moreton.
