Item Description

Mineral specimens attributable to this historic old mine are RARE. Tiny, gemmy, rich green, textbook hexagonal pyromorphite prisms are richly invested in the vuggy front of the large sculptural gossan matrix. The prisms reach about 4 mm, but most are smaller. Rich silver mining started in the area in 1372, where the Lord of Freiburg declared the first mining law in all of the southern German mining fields (MINDAT)! Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2630 and acquired in Germany in September,1962. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). An important old German pyromorphite from a classic locale.
