Item Description

Mineral specimens of ANY type are RARE from this obscure old copper-silver mine. A 2.1 cm sharp charcoal-gray bornite crystal with a matte finish, but pretty light iridescence is aesthetically set on the dramatic matrix plate highlighted by the 3.2 cm, glassy doubly terminated quartz crystal. Smaller quartz and bornite crystals are fine accessories to this exceptional combination from this most uncommon locale. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7941 and acquired from the Lidstrom's at Tucson in 1976. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A very rare and outstanding bornite and quartz combinaion from the Mangula Mine.
