Item Description

Striking and VERY RARE old-time large fluorite and quartz from Pakistan. Two generations, mint-green and gray-green, of blocky, translucent CUBES with frosted and partially etched faces are aesthetically intergrown on this sculptural two-sided piece. The cubes, to 4.0 cm, rest on the matrix plated covered with coated quartz points. Bright blue-purple fluorescence! Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7570 and acquired from a Pakistan dealer at the Tucson Show in 1976!! This is before the flood of Pakistan-Afghanistan material started reaching the West in the early 1980s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). From an unknown Pakistan locality, as MINDAT does not list fluorite from the Kohistan District. A VERY RARE outstanding OLD fluorite with CUBIC crystals from Pakistan. Cubic fluorite is rare from Pakistan, as most examples are octahedrons. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
