Item Description

Elpidite, hydrated Na-Zr silicate is RARE from well-known Mount Malosa. A 1.8 cm, sharp, tan orthorhombic elpidite crystal and a 3.0 cm, lustrous, jet-black, terminated aegirine crystal dominate this aesthetic and sculptural 360-degree miniature combination. The matrix includes sharp, bone-white microcline crystals (fluorescent red!) and sections of more elpidite and aegirine crystals. Ex Francesco Bedogne Colllection # 2356. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector. Read his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=118. A RARE and outstanding elpidite combiation from this locale.
