Augite (RARE Sweden)

Item Description

Sharply crystallized augite is VERY RARE from any of the Sweden localities listed by MINDAT. Only one photo is shown in the Sweden gallery for the species. A very sharp, doubly terminated, 1.2 x 1.1 cm, lustrous brownish-black prism is expertly set in the center of the granular matrix. More crystals scattered on the front and back of the piece are fine accessories. The front displays well from either direction. From an East Coast collection. Undoubtedly old-time, RARE augite, but no proof. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
