The world's finest descloizite specimens have easily come from Namibia's famous Berg Aukas Mine, closed since 1978. Less well-known, it has also produced world-class smithsonite specimens. This is an impressive and sculptural large mounded piece is totally covered with spearpoint sheaves of lustrous to matte, gray to black to brown descloizite blades. Bright light reveals the blades have translucent chocolate-brown edges, adding pizzazz. The piece has multiple fine views and the blades reach 2.1 cm. An outstanding, pristine and rich large example of the species and locale.
