Item Description

A supremely sculptural and RARE combination from this obscure copper mine, known for excellent calcite specimens. Dramatically stacked, super-sharp bornite-coated chalcopyrite sphenoids form this amazing 360-degree miniature. The superb sharp crystal at the top is 4.0 cm on the diagonal. The scattered bit of bruising reveals the fabulous golden-yellow iridesence beneath the bornite. A SUPER RARE surprise is the 1.2 cm, glassy cerussite twin hidden on the bottom of the large sphenoid! Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11798 and acquired from Silver Scepter Minerals at the Tucson Show in 1989. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Simply a UNIQUE and rare combination from here. MINDAT does not list either species for the locality. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
