Item Description

Exceptional and aesthetic fluorite and quartz from this old, well-known Japanese polymetallic-fluorite skarn deposit. Specimens of this quality probably date to the early to mid-1900s. A 3.1 cm doubly terminated octahedron with a side car is dramatically set on the "ball" of glassy quartz points. The sharp and pristine translucent fluorite has pretty pastel-pink color and matte luster faces. The striking quartz-lined vug on the back is a real bonus! Purple fluorite fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5611 and acquired from the Hamel's at the 6 Club Show in 1969. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Specimens of this quality are RARE and are seldom on the market.
