Item Description

Beautiful mint-green gemmy fluorite cuboctahedrons are richly and aesthetically clustered on the starkly contrasting lustrous and translucent pastel-pink calcite rhombs. Some lustrous fluorite faces are glass-clear with most being densely stepped-growth. The base of this impressive and colorful large combination on gneiss matrix has been sawed to enhance the fine display quality. The fluorite and calcite both fluoresce, adding more interest. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5323 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A very fine large example of the combination species and locale and seldom on the market.
