Gemmy Calcite xls (2009 find)

Striking, beautiful, sharp, gemmy, glassy, golden-yellow to golden-brown, complex calcite rhombs are dramatically and aesthetically clustered on the shale matrix. The large rhomb on one side is 4.3 cm. The color variations are due to iron oxide content. This is an impressive and exceptional plate from the 2009 find at this large open pit iron-copper mine complex. The interior is pristine and you barely notice the contacting on either end of the piece. These caused quite a stir at the 2009 Munich Show and the 2010 Tucson Show. The crystals have a beautiful golden glow, when back lit. This outstanding two-sided piece was valued by the former dealer at $3500.
