Item Description

These old-time unique so-called "star" shaped radial quartz specimens were first discovered in the 1850s and soon became famous. This fascinating, old-time quartz specimen features radiating, star-like, milky quartz crystals on all sides of this very showy piece and every side presents a different perspective. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8417 and acquired in December, 1977 from the Bradley's. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). The locality is now in a natural preserve (since 1963) and has been covered over with soil (MINDAT). These specimens are so distinctive!
