Item Description

Striking RARE "strawberry quartz" from a remote Kazakhstan locale. These distinctively colored, sharply terminated crystals have matte luster frosted faces. There are different opinions, as to what the heavily infused inclusions are - either finely divided rutile or hematite or both. These came out in the 1990s to mid-2000s and the locality is exhausted. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 13014. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Regardless of the red chromophore, this is an outstanding pristine example of this red quartz rarity. The piece GLOWS, when back lit. Valued at $750. Highly valued and impossible to find for sale today!
