Item Description

Dzhezkazgan mines are famous for sharp world-class bornite specimens, along with copper, silver and betekhtinite specimens. Euhedral, nubby, charcoal-gray bornite crystals, to 1.4 cm, are richly and attractively festooned on the sculptural large oxide-coated sandstone matrix plate. A modest bit of crystal bruising is certainly only a minimal detraction. Specimens of this size, richness and quality from the 1990s finds are quite rare. Ex David Burgess Collection.
