Item Description

Bright green felted tufts of acicular brochantite richly cover the matrix accented with brownish-black heterogenite on this showy piece. Copper-rich cobalt ores were mined from this obscure locality until the mine closed in the 1950s. In 2002, specimen collectors opened a single 30 cm vug containing these beautiful specimens (Moore's Compendium of Mineral Discoveries, 2016). RARE and desirable brochantite from Katanga.
