Item Description

Sharp, highly lustrous, opaque to beautiful partially gemmy golden-yellow, twinned tetragonal cassiterite crystals are peppered on the large, hefty ore matrix on this rich and excellent old-time specimen from the famous mines at Horni Slavkov (Schlaggenwald) on the Czech side of the historic Erzgebirge. The large crystal is 1.4 cm across. Large sharp cassiterite crystals are famous from this tin and poly-metallic mining district, but such large pieces sprinkled with sharp cassiterites are very uncommon. Highly representative and rich large material. From an East Coast collection. Mass is 1545 grams or 3.4 pounds.
