Item Description

RARE, rich and superb scorodite from Brazil. Well-crystallized scorodite is rare from any Brazilian locality and fine specimens from this obscure Ouro Preto area iron deposit are EXTREMELY RARE. Beautiful, gemmy, teal-blue prisms, to 8 mm, cover a thin layer of limonite or goethite botryoids on the goethite matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 12044 and acquired from the Cisneros' at the 1989 MSSC Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). An outstanding, rich and rare Brazil scorodite. Valued at $1000-1250.
