Item Description

Rhodochrosite is RARE from this well-known mine, noted for excellent orpiment, enargite, hutchinsonite, and pyrite specimens. This is a DOUBLY RARE and rich combination specimen, as pastel-pink bladed rhodochrosite has pseudomorphed a jackstraw intergrown cluster of tabular barite crystals, to 2.3 cm. A few small glassy quartz points scattered on the pseudos add even more character. The sculptural banded matrix adds pizzazz in itself, with the pseudos on top, followed by a mixed sulfides vein, a vein of botryoidal rhodochrosite, with lustrous granular sphalerite at the bottom. An outstanding and RARE rhodochrosite pseudomorph combination from the W.S. Logan Collection X113-8.
