Smithsonite

Colorful and sculptural smithsonite from the famous San Antonio Mine at Santa Eulalia. Rich golden yellow translucent variably sized bubbly botryoids with satin luster cover the mounded piece. Periphery wear on the sides reveals that the interior smithsonite is massive glassy-grey above the silicified limestone matrix. An excellent specimen from the 1980s finds from the San Antonio Mine. Classic smithsonite from this mine. The yellow color is probably due to trace amounts of cadmium.
