Item Description

The famous mines at Dal'negorsk are renowned for world-class fluorite, calcite and sulfide specimens and this is a striking large single pyrrhotite crystal. The highly lustrous, rich bronze-brown two-sided tabular, hexagonal crystal is fantastically laminated and is dramatically accented on both sides with starkly contrasting, lustrous, translucent, flattened nailhead calcite rhombs, that fluoresce pink. The upper edges are all pristine. The attachment is at the base. This is a rare and outstanding style of extremely flattened, finely laminated pyrrhotite from the Nikolaevskiy Mine. Choice material from the 1990s to early 2000s finds. Ex Ted Bartels Collection. valued $500
