Item Description

A wonderful specimen of crystallized Epidote from the lesser known Julie Claim in Nevada. This is an older specimen, and doesn't resemble to more contemporary pieces with their "fan"-like formations and thinner crystals. The crystals on this piece are more broad with big lustrous faces and rich green color. The piece is nearly a complete "floater" as it's doubly-terminated and crystallized all the way around, but there are few incomplete spots near the base where it must have been attached to the pocket wall. When backlit, a bit of extra virgin olive olil green color can be seen on the edges. Good quality and very showy for the locality. Hard to find on the market now. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12630). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
