Item Description

Papagoite is a signature rare species from the famous Ajo Mine and is the Type Locality. It is an ultra rare copper silicate. Bright turquoise-blue micro-needles richly and attractively cover the volcanic matrix. Older material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 10124 and acquired from Al Ordway in Long Beach in July, 1983. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Classic and rich Ajo papagoite.
