Item Description

Mineral specimens are RARE from this famous old large extinct Cornwall tin mine. Splendent sharp cassiterite prisms, to 7 mm, are richly and aesthetically clustered on the hefty tin ore matrix. Some of the crystals have areas of golden-yellow translucence, under bright light. Formerly in the British Museum and Scott Williams Collections. Ex Kay Robertson Collection with no number. Her label was lost during the move. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record) and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Casssiterite specimens of this quality and richness are RARE from here. Classic old-time material, probably from the mid-1800s.
