Item Description

The Thomas Range is famous for producing gorgeous gooseberry colored Red Beryl crystals along with wonderfully sherry colored Topaz crystals, but seldom is Hematite seen or at least recognized as a wortwhile collectible species from this area. This attractive thumbnail specimen features sparkling metallic silvery-black Hematite crystals / "blades" which have formed a semi-rosettes free of matrix. The label accompanying the piece states that it could be pseudomorph after another species, but it's hard to speculate what it could be. For the form and the locality, it's a very worthwhile thumbnail to add to your collection, or if you collect oxides, worlwide Hematites or even minerals of the United States. The piece comes from the collection of Scott J. Williams.
