Ruby from Burma is one of the most storied gems in the world. Some of the finest Rubies in the world are found in Burma. This matched pair of Rubies have an attractive pinkish-red color, and are certainly gem quality in clarity. The stones have "Pear Step" cuts. These are absolutely some of the most popular Rubies in the world. It should be noted that these gems ares glass-filled, which is a technique used to improve the clarity of Rubies, and is an acceptable practice so long as the buyer is aware that they are buing a glass-filled stone. PLEASE NOTE: The embargo implemented by the United States government states that there will NOT be ANY of these Rubies imported to U.S. soil after September 30, 2008. The embargo is now over, but it is still very difficult to find this material on market as it has been thoroughly distributed to Asian marketplaces, and is not nearly as available in the western markets as it was over 10 years ago. For many years, one could only purchase gems in this country that were imported prior to the embargo. These gems seem to be disappearing from the market rapidly.
