Melarite Jasper

Item Description

We just picked up this stone a few months ago, and I purchased it from a rockhound in Arizona who didn't want to give a more specific locality. He claimed he collected it himself in Arizona, and used the term "Melarite" to describe it. I can't find a specific definition of the term, so if anybody out there has more info on this material, please let me know. It has an "Oval Cabchon" cut with lovely moss green and black alternating bands with an organic apperance, almost like snakeskin.
