Item Description

Showy and classic for Levane, these carbonate geodes are renowned for their Kutnahorite and Aragonite combinations. The acicular needles of Aragonite form beautiful sprays that have great luster and sparkle, and nestled among these Aragonites are clusters of brown, almost botryoidal, Kutnahorite. Kutnohorite is an uncommon member of the Dolomite Group, more often thought of as being from South Africa. A fine pair from the well-known Lignite mines of Levane, Tuscany, Italy, these were featured in a 1994 Mineralogical Record article. #8564 in Kay's collection.
