Item Description

A good quality, classic, large, sharp, gemmy, cubic specimen of Fluorite from the Fluorite Mine in Valzergues, France. The composite crystal shows a beautiful golden hue in the interior with a "phantom" zoning on the exterior with a lilac hue in indoor lighting (more of a greenish-blue in sunlight). The front side of the specimen is in great shape as all but one corner are complete, but it is contacted on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. Good quality, large for the locality and hard to find on the market these days. It's very difficult to find such a large isolated crystal like this from Valzergues. Valued at $850 in the inventory. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass. Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Règne Minéral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
