Item Description

A very hard to find specimen from the one time find in an undisclosed locality in Hunan, China. Gorgeous sparkling, multi-colored, iridescent (gold, yellow, green, pink) crystals of Pyrite or Chalcopyrite cover sharp, well-formed, "dogtooth"-habit scalenohedral Calcite crystals on minor matrix. The largest Calcite on the front / display side of the piece measures 2.3 cm, but the reverse side of the specimen reveals a solitary Calcite scalenohedron which appears to be partially altered / pseudomorphed and measures in at a full 5.0 cm. Very good quality overall and incredibly rare on the market. These specimens came out over 10 years ago (circa 2007) and certainly are a must have for any collector of Chinese minerals or worldwide Calcites. Valued at $800.
