Item Description

Here we have one of the great modern classics from China in the form of an attractive small cabinet display specimen of the famous Azurites from the prolific Liufengshan Mine. This piece is solid Azurite and has formed in "rosette" groups free from matrix. The back of the piece is partially crystallized where it seems to have grown against the pocket wall, so it's nearly crystallized all the way around making it almost a complete "floater". The luster is superb on the display side, which combined with the deep royal blue hue and sharp crystal faces allows each individual blade to shine. This is very good quality Azurite for the locality, and these piece are arguably the most celebrated Azurite specimens to come out of any locality in the last 20+ years. Priced at $1,000. From the collection of Charlie Key. Charlie is arguably the most successful mineral dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
