Item Description

A beautiful small cabinet display specimen from this well-known locality about 1 mile away from the famous Red Cloud Mine. The piece is covered with strong red orange color, glistening, brilliant crystals of hexagonal Vanadinite up to about 3 mm on an oxidized matrix from this classic locale. The red is as strong as anything from Morocco, especially in evenly sized crystals. Nearly every crystal is pristine, but I can see a handful of spots with tiny bruises. If you collect secondary ore minerals or specimens from Arizona, don't miss out on this showy and relatively hard to find classic. Valued at $750. From the worldwide collection of Tom Campbell. Tom is a mineralogist and mineral collect who works with us here at The Arkenstone. He has over 35 years of experience in the fields of exploration geology, mining, and applied mineralogy, and has even more years under his belt as a collector! Tom has described many new species over the years, and discovered the rare phosphates Tiptopite, Fransoletite and Pahasapaite. Tom was also a co-author on the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Minerals. You can see a list of Tom's published works here ( https://www.irocks.com/thomas-j-campbell-publications-list ).
