Item Description

These specimens were all over just a few years ago, and seemed to have dried up on the market. We have been told that the oxidation zone at the mine is finished, and these Azurites may never be seen again, which is a shame since it's some of the best quality Azurite to come out of any locality in decades. Here we have a lovely small miniature specimen of Azurite from this famous contemporary mine. This piece good quality, blocky, sharp, incredibly lustrous, deep blue crystals forming a semi-"rosette"-shaped group free of matrix. The largest individual Azurite measures about 1.3 cm on edge and some crystals are slightly gemmy near the edges when backlit. If you look closely, you can see that some of crystals have nicks, but they are still notably sharp and lustrous. I honestly mistook this for a Tsumeb Azurite as first because it was so shiny. I love the fact that the specimen sits on its own and displays beautifully without the aid of a base or clay! Priced at $950 in the inventory.
